Holiday Inn West in Kalamazoo has a new owner; management has ties to hotel in Grand Rapids | MLive.com
And they first approached Greenleaf Hospitality a year ago, he said. The deal was closed late Friday morning. Rayman said Greenleaf remains committed to the Radisson Plaza in downtown Kalamazoo and all its retail and restaurant outlets, as well as to its Wings Stadium and Wings West properties. Wings Stadium is the home of the Kalamazoo Wings ECHL hockey team and a major entertainment venue. Wings West has two ice rinks for public skating and has an Old Burdick’s restaurant/tavern. The property has about 70 employees, full- and part-time, who are now employees of the new owner. Rayman said Ellen Markle, manager of the Holiday Inn in Grand Rapids, has become general manager of the property. The Old Burdick’s West restaurant there will continue to operate under that name for another year, until the property’s new owners decide what direction to take with the food and beverage venue. In the press release, Michael Oswald, corporate director of food and beverage for Greenleaf Hospitality Group, said, “Kalamazoo Hotel Group has great plans for redeveloping the hotel’s restaurant with a fresh look and will continue to provide the same great service provided to our guests.

Holiday Inn Express in Park Slope now accepting bitcoins – NY Daily News
Enthusiasts of the cryptocurrency argue it could replace traditional money, because there’s no need for a middleman bank or credit card company. A Holiday Inn Express in Park Slope has begun accepting bitcoins for rooms a week after the general manager denied knowing anything about it, the Daily News has learned. The Union St. hotel served their first guests paying in the alternative currency that some supporters say could replace traditional money, a worker confirmed on Tuesday. The bitcoin technology, sometimes called cryptocurrency, allows people to transfer money without a middleman such as a bank or credit card company. The Brooklyn Holiday Inn Express was set to become a test site for the massive hotel chain, bitcoin pioneer Charlie Shrem told the News last week. But general manager Brandon Ward initially claimed ignorance of the project in a series of heated e-mails.
